High Mountain Tai Chi Association
Buxton Tai Chi Club and Luton Tai Chi Club
BUXTON:
The Buxton Tai Chi club opened its doors on Wednesday the 12th September 2007 at The Church Centre, Bath Road, Buxton.

The club meets from 7:00pm to 8:30pm on each Wednesday evening. The fee per session is £5.00 and an annual insurance and club membership fee of £15.00 is payable upon attendance of your third training session.

You should wear comfortable clothing and trainers or flat soled shoes.

The primary style of Tai Chi that will be taught at the club is the Eight Energy Move Form followed by the 24 move Peking style. This will be supplemented by various other exercises including 'push hands' and Chi Gung.

To participate just come along, if you have any questions, call Robert on 05601 257 151.

LUTON:
The Luton Tai Chi club has been in existence for over nine years and was an offshoot of Tai Chi courses that Robert Agar-Hutton ran for Luton's Adult Education Programme.

The club meets on a Wednesday evening at the Blenheim Crescent Baptist Church Hall, Blenheim Crescent, Luton. (Click HERE to open another window with a map of the club's location). The class is from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, and the fee per session is £5.00

The photo above is me (Robert Agar-Hutton) in salute posture. We end each class with the students and I saluting each other. This is the only formal aspect of our training as I passionately believe that training should be relaxed and enjoyable.

The club is now run by the members with Mr Steve Lyall taking the position of resident instructor. This format keeps the price of lessons down and means that the club from its profits funds such things as members insurance. Something that normally would cost extra.

To participate just come along, if you have any questions, call Steve on 01582 750 757.
The Luton club has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and students are encouraged to participate at whatever level they are comfortable with. Several of the students are instructor level which means that help is never far away.

The class is always delighted to welcome visitors who are new to Tai Chi and want to start or people who already have some previous experience and are just looking for a new 'home' where they can practice and develop their skills.

Some thoughts about the difference between Tai Chi for health and Tai Chi for combat.
